Severe Weather Chances/Awareness!!!!!

Image
GoodMorning Everybody! How's it going! This Morning I figured I'd do an update about upcoming chances for Severe Weather. You know as we transition from our bipolar winter months into our Storm Season, people need to get more severe weather acclimated.  People understand something, Severe Weather kills more people in Arkansas per year than any other natural occurrence.  Severe Weather in the form of Severe Storms. Tornadoes kill a fair share, but straight lined winds kill the most people. Mainly due in part to trees falling onto houses. Part of staying alive these days are being aware of what's going on. Young people tend to be more interested in Facebook, Twitter and social media. That's why Social Media has been so important to my career as an amateur weather forecaster, and a scientist. You have to be AWARE of what's going on, and take Watches and Warnings VERY seriously.  If I, or any other reputable weather broadcasting source tell you there's a Torna

Winter's Not Dead Yet!

Image
GoodEvening everybody, how's it going! I've been listening to everybody ask me if winter is dead or not. Here's my take on it. Winter is not completely "Dead" yet. Our winters don't typically kick in until late February and into March. If you remember back to Winter 2014/2015, we really didn't get much in the way of Snow until March of 2015. We got two good Snow Storms and one of them was a Blizzard.  So just because we've only had one good snow doesn't mean winter is completely just done... Furthermore, just because we've had mild temperatures here in Arkansas in winter time doesn't mean winter is completely done either. Just means our weather is very bipolar, and it hears voices. Now my pessimism doesn't come from the warm temperatures, it comes from something I call "The Urban Island Heating Effect" I'll do an update explaining what that is, but basically in a nutshell it is a condition that traps heat in the grou

Lover's Day Winter Weather

Image
Happy Saturday Evening everybody! I hope everybody has had a safe day thus far. Last Update I did, I informed you all of some winter weather moving in, now I said NOTHING was set in stone. Sees to me, that Central Arkansas has LESS to No chance for frozen stuff. Looks to me like the air will be too warm, and the ground would be too warm for anything to stick anyways. Now North Arkansas on the other hand, you guys have the chance to se some measurable ice/sleet accumulations locally.  This system will be tanking south bringing cold air with it. But the air doesn't have enough downward momentum to fight over the mountains of North Arkansas. So North Arkansas will act as a shield from the good stuff. Now with the amount of precipitation that will be on the move, North Arkansas can see a dusting to 1.5inches of sleet/frz rain. When I say North Arkansas I mean Fort Smith, to Fayetteville, to Mt Home, to Jonesboro, as far south as Clinton ( MAYBE JUST MAYBE), as far south as Newport

Winter Makes A LOVELY Return!

Image
GoodMorning Ladies and Gentlemen! Well weather has been pretty dead other than the disrespectful wind we recieved about 2 days ago. But otherwise, nothing clucking. Well Im proud to say, WINTER has decided to make a return to the Natural State, after throwing a temper tantrum and leaving us with spring weather. Winter wants to make everything up, and show us how much it loves us by coming back on Valentine's Day and taking us out to dinner! I don't know about you all, but I'm hungry, especially at this time of morning. But Anyways, I digress.     Timing is looking like at some point during the day on Valentine's Day. Now as you all know I study, or favor, or watch more, or whatever you call it 3 different weather models mostly. I do watch the EURO (European Weather Model), and the HRRR ( High Refresh Weather Model). But I don't favor them. The main 3 weather models I study are the CMC (Canadian Weather Model), NAM ( North American Model), and GFS (Global Forec

REMEMBERING The Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak

Image
It was 8 years ago today that one of the single most DEADLIEST Tornado Outbreaks in history here in Arkansas. That day was the Infamous Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak. Now I get this question a lot, What is a Tornado Outbreak? What does that mean? Well a tornado outbreak is basically any day/night that there are multiple tornadoes in one particular region at one time. So lets say we have a system coming into Arkansas on a random day/night and there are tornadoes with the frontal boundary (squal line ), and there are tornadoes with random thunderstorms in other areas of the state, well That's a Tornado Outbreak! What was soo special about that particular tornado outbreak to me was the fact that it happened EARLY in the year when Temperatures are typically too cold for that type of weather, this happened when snow storms SHOULD HAVE BEEN happening. So most people were very surprised at this type of weather at that time of the year. Now there was warning, that particular day ther

Dry Quiet Weather Ahead, Is The Rat Right Or Not??

Hey everybody! Good Evening, how's it going! I know it's been a couple of weeks, well at least a week since my last update. I've been sick, yeah for the first time in TWO good years, Im sick! It Sucks, I blame it all on this schizophrenic weather that we have here in Arkansas... It's that, and the fact that quite frankly, we just haven't had much going on with the weather lately. Since that last good snowstorm, we have actually been quiet, not much to update on when you're quiet. For the most part we look to remain quiet, but there are a couple of things that are at least worth mentioning at this point.      Some Forecasters have hinted at a wave of moisture passing through on Saturday with showers moving through or at least light PRECIPITATION scattered around Southwest and West Arkansas as the wave of moisture moves past. It will be LIGHT! Nothing big, and it will be in the air! Now as far as the Next wave of moisture, it will be in the form of a Frontal
