Severe Weather Chances/Awareness!!!!!

GoodMorning Everybody! How's it going! This Morning I figured I'd do an update about upcoming chances for Severe Weather. You know as we transition from our bipolar winter months into our Storm Season, people need to get more severe weather acclimated.  People understand something, Severe Weather kills more people in Arkansas per year than any other natural occurrence.  Severe Weather in the form of Severe Storms. Tornadoes kill a fair share, but straight lined winds kill the most people. Mainly due in part to trees falling onto houses. Part of staying alive these days are being aware of what's going on. Young people tend to be more interested in Facebook, Twitter and social media. That's why Social Media has been so important to my career as an amateur weather forecaster, and a scientist. You have to be AWARE of what's going on, and take Watches and Warnings VERY seriously.  If I, or any other reputable weather broadcasting source tell you there's a Tornado Warning and you need to take cover, then You darn well had better do it. Or DIE!!! It's that simple. If you hear there is a Tornado Watch and conditions are FAVORABLE for Tornadoes, then You BETTER BE REALLY READY to take cover if something comes your way. Be scared, be terrified, be whatever you need to be as long as you're aware!
Severe Weather Awareness Week kicked off yesterday, and will run through Saturday March 5th. Severe Storms are any storms with winds above 58mph reported, or estimated.  Tornadic Storms are any Severe Thunderstorms that are capable of producing a Tornado. Severe Storms with Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are storms that produce heavy rain, hail, and high damaging thunderstorm winds (58mph) and up. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings mean there is a Severe Thunderstorm heading your way, and you need to get safe out of the elements. Severe Thunderstorm Watch means the atmosphere is FAVORABLE for the Production of Severe Storms.
If you are interested in learning about Severe Weather, or becoming a Certified Skywarn Arkansas Storm Chaser then you should plan to attend a Skywarn Spotter's class to get certified.  Here's one class that will be tonight in Salem Arkansas later this evening.  Go to The National Weather Service website to find other classes near you. Skywarn Arkansas is Sponsored by The National Weather Service, and other outlets statewide.
This forecast is courtesy of The National Weather Service, there is a chance for Severe Weather this week, particularly today, and tomorrow. I don't expect the chance for a widespread outbreak of severe weather, but there is a chance for scattered isolated severe storms. Now a frontal boundary will be moving through overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning, it will bring a squall line of thunderstorms with it. Along with that line of storms comes the chance for strong winds, and heavy rain, with some dangerous cloud to ground lightning.  The line will be quick moving so it should be clear of the state by noon tomorrow.

I feel the need to mention that 2 out of the 3 weather models that I watch are long range weather models. When I looked at this morning's run of the GFS (Global Forecasting Model), I saw a really strong storm system moving into Arkansas from the West Coast by Thursday March 10th. This could set the stage for a potential severe weather outbreak of some type. Now obviously that's a LONG way away in time, but it is DEFINITELY something for me to look out for and watch in the days to come. I haven't checked any of the details, the wind profiles, or temperatures or anything other than the model graphics. So I'll look into the details in time. I really appreciate everybody for coming here to the Arkansas Weather Hawk's Blog! Plz, comment, aand Share!! Have a Good Day Ladies and Gentleman!!!
