Winter Weather Update: February 9th 2021

Hey Everybody! I hope Everybody is Staying safe on this cold, damp, and wet Tuesday. It looks like there is a chance for some serious weather to be moving in over the next 24-48 hours, that will create some very dangerous driving conditions on the Roads here in Arkansas. This is an Ice System, I don't see much potential for Snow as much as I do Sleet and Freezing rain. I Love Snow personally, Snow is great for pictures, and fun in the winter. Snow Does make the roads Slick, and Slippery, especially when you get a lot of it. But Ice is a completely different beast all together from snow. Snow doesn't Stick to Tree's and Powerlines, Ice does. Ice will cover the roads and make them one solid Sheet of Pure Ice, and on Ice you have ZERO traction. You can Drive in Snow, Snow is Decent to drive in, but ICE is a No Go. Ice will shut a City down within Minutes. Ice will cover everything, bring down Tree's, powerlines causing outages for extended periods of time, and not leaving much option to go anywhere because it covers the ground as well, and you can't drive on it.

So, what's to be expected for Arkansas?
So this is the Latest Run of the NAM (North American Model), this particular model shows the Onset of some Frozen Precipitation here in Central Arkansas between Midnight Thursday Morning, and 3am Thursday Morning.
This is the NAM Model between 3am and 6am Thursday Morning. As you guys can see this model really ramps up on the Freezing Rain Early in the Rush Hour Period of Thursday Morning. IF THIS HAPPENS, THIS WILL CAUSE SOME SERIOUS TRAVEL ISSUES.

This is the NAM between 6am and 9am Thursday Morning, we continue with Freezing Rain here in Central and North East Arkansas.
This is Courtesy of the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, they're calling for Ice Storm Type Accumulations here in Central, Northeast, and Sections of South Central Arkansas. If You live in those Shaded Areas, ESPECIALLY THE RED Shaded Areas, You need to Go Ahead and Get ready for a Call In Day on Thursday.

Winter Weather Advisories, Winter Storm Watches, and an Ice Storm Warning has been issued through Thursday Afternoon in advance of this Storm.
